ZONE DIET GUIDELINES...

ZONE DIET BASICS...

For those of you that have done the measurements for the Zone Diet here is how you use them...

The whole theory behind the Zone is to balance out hormones by using the food you each to balance out macronutrients (Carbs, Proteins & Fats)... This balancing out is supposed to help reduce inflammation which can lead to reduction in cancer and disease risk in theory... But, for us we are trying to use it to help recovery between WODs...

Here's how to do it...

Let's say you were prescribed 15 Blocks after we did you body fat and weight measurements...

Your goal is to break this total into FIVE meals with an equal balance of Carbs, Proteins and Fats in ALL meals... You get 15 blocks of each of these so your total daily block total is actually 45 (15x3 different nutrients)...

So lets do an example...

Let's say you do 4 block meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner so this is 12 blocks out of your 15... Then use the 3 left over for snacks between meals... So do a 2 block snack between breakfast and lunch and a 1 block snack between lunch and dinner... So that would equal 15...

So now you have to fill in foods...

Let's do breakfast as an example...
4 block breakfast:
To keep it simple...
1 egg = 1 block of protein so you could do 4 eggs for your protein for breakfast...
1/2 cup of blueberries = 1 block of carbs so you could do 2 cups of blueberries for your carbs for breakfast...
Lastly, I believe 1 teaspoon of Olive Oil is 1 Fat block so you can cook your eggs in 2 teaspoons for 2 Fat blocks then since you still have 2 left before you reach for you could have some nuts... 7 almonds = 1 fat block so you can throw 14 almonds in wih your breakfast to finish off your fat blocks...

Odd example but it works

Repeat this with all your meals and you're set!

We will post a food list from zone diet.com that lists a majority of foods into block serving sizes... We DO NOT want you to be super strict and ultra healthy on this "diet"... We want you to have something starchy everyday in order to have a little more available energy for all the extra work will will be doing the next 6 weeks before the Open starts...

Post any questions you guys have to comments!
